The Complete Sandals Resort Packing List

Wondering what to pack for Sandals Resorts?  Whether it’s Jamaica, St. Lucia, or one of the other beautiful islands, the packing is pretty much always the same.

We travel to Sandals Resorts several times per year, so we have our packing nailed down.  The great thing about Sandals is that you really don’t need to pack that much because they provide so many things.  But, here’s our Sandals Resort packing list.

  • 3 bathing suits
  • 3 sundress/cover ups
  • sarong(I wear as a wrap on the plane as well)
  • pajamas
  • beach sandals
  • 1 active outfit(for the gym or excursions)
  • Water tennis shoes(I use these from Tropicfeel because they double as water and gym shoes)
  • Underwear
  • Bra
  • Sports Bra
  • 3 resort dresses(nicer sundress or more casual cocktail dress- but you’ll see all sorts and no one really stands out- I always bring a white one for Love Hop Night)
  • Nicer sandals (some wear fancier sandals/flip flops, and others wear heels – just make sure to wear some that are easy to walk in sand. You won’t HAVE to walk on the beach in the evening, but it’s much easier not to worry about not having the right shoes on) We see lots of wedges and espadrilles, which are a perfect mix of fancy and easy to walk on the beach with.

*Love Hop used to be White Night and many people still wear White- but many don’t.  The entertainment is subject to change, so I always pack a white dress just in case.  If I miss Love Hop Night, I just wear it another night.

  • 3 swim shorts
  • 3 lightweight shirts
  • sandals
  • 1 active outfit(for the gym or excursions)
  • Water Tennis Shoes(I prefer Tropicfeel shoes, but Andrew always wears Keens)
  • Underwear
  • 1 Linen/lightweight pants(a few restaurants require long pants- sometimes the rules are bent, but better safe than sorry)
  • 3 Nicer shorts
  • 4 Polo or Button-Down lightweight shirt
  • Boat shoes (flip flops and tennis shoes are not allowed at some restaurants)

*Men’s pants are always a hot topic of conversation. If you’re unaware, long pants are required for men at some restaurants. But recently the rules have been relaxed a bit an shorts have been sometimes allowed. But, the rules still state that long pants are required, so just pack a pair of light linen pants so you don’t have to worry.

  • Large plastic bag – for wet clothes when coming home
  • Baggies – they always come in handy on trips
  • Beach Bag/ Dry Bag
  • Sun Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunblock
  • Cash for tips(see our detailed tipping post)
  • Thank you cards for butler (optional)
  • Bug spray – I think they keep up on keeping the grounds sprayed, but I always bring just in case
  • Hammock Style Float(just don’t leave it there- pack it in and out)
  • Toiletries- (Sandals included larger size good quality shampoo, conditioner, bath bombs, lotion, soap, and nail files.  I never pack my own)
  • Medicines (I bring dramamine because I get car sick)
  • Make-up
  • Snorkel Gear(it’s provided on snorkel trips, but not for snorkeling at the resort)
  • GoPro
  • Waterproof Phone Case

Things many recommend that we didn’t find necessary:

  • Towel clips – towels can tuck into spots on chairs
  • Metal straws – Sandals use paper, but they don’t bother us- maybe I drink too fast.
  • Yeti large drink cups to keep your drinks frozen all day – never used mine- maybe it’s the fast drinking again though??

In your carryon:

  • Swimsuit & Beach Clothes for a quick change if your room isn’t ready
  • Small Bills for Tipping BEFORE you get to the resort- Club MoBay,Red Cap, Shuttle Driver, etc.  Read our detailed guide to tipping at Sandals HERE.
